His myriad awards include the Grand Prix at the Milan Trienale (in both 1957 & 1960) and the Lunning Award (1958). The PK22 Chair, designed in 1956 by Poul Kjærholm, was inspired by the light, elegant Klismos chair created by the ancient Greeks.
